Higher Education Advocacy Day 2019

Tuesday, February 12, Lincoln’s Birthday

Register Here

The PSC is working in coalition with NYSUT, UUP, NYPIRG, CUNY USS and SUNY SA to organize a major lobby day to demand new State investments in public higher education. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12, the Lincoln’s Birthday holiday. Classes are suspended for the holiday, so HEOs and CLTs will not have to use a vacation day to attend. Faculty and students won’t have to schedule around their classes. Why not spend the day off work in Albany lobbing alongside hundreds of PSC colleagues and CUNY students for State funding to support quality CUNY education and a fair contract?

Attendees must register online no later than Thursday, January 17.

Participants will travel to Albany the afternoon or evening of Monday, February 11, stay over at the Hampton Inn, and meet with legislators on Tuesday. In the morning, we meet with legislators on union issues. At Noon we join CUNY and SUNY students to rally and to participate in coalition lobby visits around our joint student-faculty-staff platform. The program ends around 3:00 p.m. Travel, hotel (double-room only), meals and materials are reimbursed by NYSUT and the PSC. Once you sign up via the website, Tiffany Brown ([email protected]) will be in contact about your room reservation. If you wish to reserve a single room, you will be responsible for the additional cost. Transportation from the Hampton Inn to the Capitol on Tuesday morning will be provided.
