"The twenty-seven (27) General Officers shall constitute the Executive Council of the Professional Staff Congress and shall exercise overall executive and administrative responsibilities for the policy and operation of the union" -- Article VII, Section I, PSC Constitution. The Executive Council is comprised of the four principal officers, four constituency vice presidents (part-time personnel, cross-campus, senior colleges and community colleges), five university-wide officers, three community college officers, three senior college officers, three cross-campus officers, three part-time personnel officers and two retiree officers. |
The Executive Council (“the EC”), the union’s 27-member leadership group, is responsible for making policy recommendations to the DA. The EC is elected directly by the entire membership and has overall executive responsibility for the union. EC members serve three-year terms. The EC appoints the contract negotiating committee, develops the union’s budget, offers proposals for legislative and political action, and carries out the policies of the DA. The principal officers of the PSC – all elected from the membership - work full-time or nearly full-time for the union: the president, first vice-president, secretary and treasurer.
The duties and responsibilities of the Executive Council are spelled in in article VII of the PSC Constution.
