Sick Leave [1]

In the PSC-CUNY contract, sick leave is called “temporary disability.” Adjuncts receive one week for each semester (1/15 of the total number of contact hours), which does not accrue unless the adjunct is on a three-year appointment. Adjuncts on three-year appointments also earn 12 contact hours per year of personal illness/emergency leave, which may be accrued up to a maximum of 36 hours. If you are adjuncting and develop a prolonged health problem or injury requiring long-term recovery, call an adjunct grievance counselor in the PSC office for advice.

Full-time employees at CUNY accrue twenty sick days per year, and can accrue up to 160 days.
