Fall Book Series: The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee

The form to sign-up appears at the bottom of this text

This fall the Retirees Chapter Anti-Racism Committee is sponsoring a discussion series of the recent best-selling book The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together” by Heather McGhee (One World/Random House, 2021, pp.396, hardcover or Kindle). The first session will begin on Zoom Tuesday, October 12, 2-4 pm and will continue for four more Tuesday afternoon sessions in October and November.

As the book’s publishers correctly note, this book is “a powerful exploration of inequality and the lesson that generations of Americans have failed to learn: Racism has a cost for everyone—not just for people of color.” Retiree members of the PSC who wish to attend the book series discussions may want to begin reading the book now, if you have not done so already.

A REGISTRATION FORM IS BELOW. Registration will be limited to 25 members on a first-come, first-served basis.

Speakers will briefly introduce the chapters being discussed, followed by group discussion. Because this is being planned as a participatory book discussion series, registration will have to be limited, in this case to 25 retiree members.

If you have any questions or seek further information, please contact the series coordinator, Dave Kotelchuck, at (It would help assure a quick response if you put The Sum of Us in the subject line.)
