Overview:
The Retirees Chapter of
the PSC/CUNY is the largest in the union, with over 2,400 members. We even
have a branch in Florida. Our major goal is to safeguard critical retiree
interests, including Welfare Fund benefits. The chapter also participates in
the PSC's activities on behalf of our in-service colleagues and the
university. Through the political clout we gain from the PSC and its
affiliates, we work to protect and enhance Social Security and Medicare
Benefits. We are in the forefront of the continuing struggle for pension
supplementation in New York. At monthly meetings, we update members on
issues of concern and present interesting speakers on a wide variety of
topics. Members can maintain social contacts with former colleagues and make
new friendships. The chapter also sponsors two luncheons each academic year:
a winter luncheon in January and an event in June that concludes our annual
activities. Members of the Chapter receive a monthly newsletter, the PSC
Clarion, the New York Teacher and two publications from the AFT.
Our affiliation through the
PSC with NYSUT, AFT, NEA, the AFL-CIO and COMRO (Council of Municipal
Retiree Organizations of NYC), along with membership in Alliance for Retired
Americans and its State and City affiliates, NYSARA and NYCARA, makes the
Retirees Chapter a powerful advocacy group. We welcome your involvement.
For further information, or to discuss a matter related to the interests of
retirees, contact Jacob Judd, chapter chair, at (212)354-1252, by e-mail at
jjudd18@optonline.net,
or by mail at the Professional Staff Congress, 61 Broadway, 15th Floor, New
York, NY 10006.

Annual retiree dues are
$71.00 for the period September through August. If you join between October
and August your dues will be pro-rated. If you are interested in joining,
please call the PSC Membership Department, at 212-354-1252 for a membership
application.

Update
your membership information:
We are
trying to update membership information for the more than 2,400 members in
retirees chapter. Retirees are no longer campus-based which means that the
opportunities for face-to-face communication with colleagues are limited.
Hence it is important that the PSC has correct email addresses, home
addresses and phone numbers to communicate with members. Click
here to update your membership
information.
