MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2015, 11.30AM IN ROOM B2008, NORMAN & MIRIAM JOHNSON LECTURE HALL

The meeting was called to order by Dr. Clinton Crawford, Chair, PSC-MEC who welcomed all in attendance.

The minutes of October 28, 2015 were approved with the correction of Heather Grant’s and David Orenstein’s names; and correction of the date set for further PSC action in support of the contract to be November 4, 2015 rather than 14 as previously stated in the minutes.

AGENDA:

Cooper Union Rally: Dr. Crawford requested a representative caucus from MEC-PSC in attendance at the Cooper Union rally of November 19, 2015 to be responsible for bringing up the following concerns as proffered by the body: 1) job-security for adjuncts in all of its dimensions – streamlining the salary scale; 2) a more assertive posture in civil disobedience by the PSC; 3) the need for faculty and staff to obtain a raise in step with inflation, especially in the light of CUNY administration giving themselves a 43% raise; 4) the need for the PSC to be engaged in other types of activity geared to attract more publicity to the problem of the contract; 5) need for more media coverage; 6) better salaries for those who will help the next generation to improve themselves; 7) A viral video needs to be created; 8) need for consistent, weekly demonstrations at the Chancellor’s and members of the Board of Trustees’ residences. Miles McAffee, the chosen spokesperson was charged to indicate that he was presenting the concerns of the MEC-PSC chapter which feels the need for the PSC as a whole to assume a more aggressive stance in the fight for the contract.

Security: 1) Security cameras are still not in place; 2) the petition regarding the electronic keys will be re-sent with addition of the issue of security cameras and lights in the Parking Lot to the Administration to be taken up at the next Labor-Management meeting.
