The April Clarion covers a host of controversial issues. We’ve opened for comment articles on Pathways as well as a piece that explores the relationship between a prestigious academic publishing house and the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a corporate-funded, politically conservative legislative “bill mill.” Tell us what you think about the issues raised by the Pathways articles and/or the pieces on ALEC. Join the conversation by clicking on the “add new comment" link following any one of these Clarion articles.
CUNY is a public university, and so building our union's political power helps assure adequate funding to maintain CUNY as a good place to work and to learn.
The Committee on Legislation organizes opportunities throughout the academic year for members to phone-bank, meet with legislators and mobilize around CUNY's budget and specific legislative initiatives such as reforming state Unemployment Insurance rules covering adjunct faculty. All union members are welcome to regular monthly meetings to discuss political events and candidates, to review state and city budget proposals, and to plan and organize activities including both campus and union-wide events.
