"STOP BREAKING OUR HEARTS!"
On Valentine’s Day PSC
members on 13 campuses protested the university’s failure to provide any paid
parental or family leave. They gathered more than 3,000 signatures on postcards to
CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein. The postcards say “CUNY, stop breaking our
hearts! Give us time with our families!” and call on the university to agree to
the union’s bargaining demand for paid leave. See the full text below and click

(what are your rights and how do we fight to extend them).

Dear Chancellor Goldstein: It is an outrage that CUNY
does not provide a single day of paid
parental or family leave. As a member of the CUNY community,
I urge you to agree to the Professional Staff Congress's demand
for paid parental/family leave. CUNY faculty and staff should not
have to choose between having a family and having a career. CUNY
cannot recruit and retain the top-quality faculty and staff we need
if it cannot compete with other universities that do offer paid
family leave. Join the 21st century, CUNY—provide paid family leave!
