La Belle Universite Sans Merci

Mark Noonan
reading his poem
O what
can ail thee, exploited adjunct,
Alone and
palely loitering?
You're
late on your rent payment again
And no
birds sing!
O what
can ail thee, exploited adjunct,
So
haggard, and so woebegone?
Your
classroom is crammed to the full
And
Darien peaks of uncorrected essays
remain
undone.
I see a
migraine on thy brow
With
anguish moist and fever dew,
And on
thy cheeks the proud glow of idealism Fast withereth too.
O what
can ail thee, exploited adjunct,
Alone and
palely loitering?
The
University cares about you not a fling And no birds sing!
